  • MSc. Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, Maharashtra 431606, India.
  • PhD. Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, Maharashtra 431606, India.
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship (March 2012- Feb 2014): Department of Bio-resources and Food Science, Konkuk University, Seoul. South Korea.

  • Developed highly effective sub-critical water method for plant and food bioactive compound extraction and analysis.
  • Formulated a polyherbal drug therapy for kidney stone treatment - commercial antiurolithiatic product.
  • Extraction and utilisation of saffron and butea plant flowers biowaste extracted natural colorants for functional food development.
  • Development of plant and food bioactive compound based phytomedicines & nanomedicines as future drug therapy for cancer, diabetics and kidney stone.
  • Establishment of hairy root culture method for enhanced production of secondary metabolites.

Dr. Shivraj Nile’s lab at NABI mainly focused on analysis of food, herbal and natural bioactive compounds with their biological screening, chemical toxicology and therapeutic effects. The extracted bioactive compounds further utilized for development of functional foods, herbal drugs, nanomaterials, and biomaterials using various biochemical methods. Utilization and analysis of plant, fruit and food waste for extraction and production of value-added product including various nutrients, bio-sugars, phenolics and other bioactive phytochemicals. Extraction and stability analysis of natural colorants from plants and biowaste samples as an alternative for synthetic colorants. Valorisation of various wild and exotic edible fruits, flowers and vegetables in relation to their analysis for value added products as a food, cosmetic and natural drug ingredients. Studies are broadly aimed at understanding evaluation and molecular analysis of metabolites from medicinal plants, biowastes and their isolated compounds against different diseases including cancer, gout, diabetics, and kidney stone. Also, determination of enzyme inhibition, antioxidant, cytotoxic, and anti-inflammatory activities. Working on series of laboratory and large-scale experiments that were investigated for the utilization of fruit and vegetable biowastes, green extraction, bioactive compound analysis, and their effective delivery system with therapeutic effects, i.e., waste to health. Utilization of various novel green extraction methods like SWE, SCE, PHWE, and UAE for extraction of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and various food products. Also, increasing solubility and bioavailability with decrease in toxicity using novel nanotechnologies and delivery systems for bioactive compounds and with their enhanced therapeutic effects.
