Inauguration of Animal House Facility at NABI, Mohali
Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Deptt. of Biotechnoogy (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, inaugurated the Animal House Facility at NABI, Mohali on 11th March 2019. Dr. T.R. Sharma, Executive Director and staff members of both the institutes (NABI & CIAB) were present on the occasion. She complemented the institute for developing state-of-the-art experimentation facility which will go a long way in achieving the targets of NABI in the areas of Food & Nutrition Biology, which is the important component of National Nutrition Mission of Govt. of India.
Dr. T.R. Sharma explained that this two corridors based (clean & dirty) Animal Experimentation Facility can house about 700 mice & 400 rats to conduct preclinical efficacy, safety and toxicity experiments related to Agri-Food and Nutrition research at NABI. This facility also has a provision for knock-out animals. Further, this facility will also be accessible to the Scientists and students of neighbouring CRIKC institutes.
